Upward Bound is a federally funded program that helps first-generation students (meaning parents did not earn a 4-year degree) develop the skills and motivation necessary to continue onto college. Through this program, participants receive tutoring, can be involved in cultural events, get help with college preparation, financial aid, scholarships, and career development. Colorado Teacher Education Alliance (SCTEA) The SCTEA is an alliance between 17 school districts, the Colorado State University - Pueblo, 4 community colleges, and three community organizations. All of these institutions have come together to improve teacher quality in southeastern Colorado. The SCTEA supports high school students interested in teaching in a variety of ways. COOL web-site is designed to help students and their parents
understand the different types of colleges and the costs of
attending college. Information
about individual colleges is also available on the COOL site.
This is a MUST SEE site! The U.S. Department of Education created the Think College Early Program to provide young adults, their parents, and their teachers/counselors information about college. It features everything from recommended courses to prepare for college, links to other ED College preparation resources, and a "toolbox" with parents' guides, academic resources, financial aid guides and forms, and college-planning calculators!

site with information about planning for college, saving money and
the role of financial aid, a time-table for parents to help their
child successfully get to college, choosing a college, the
application process, etc. Many
of the resources are also in Spanish on this sight.
This site is filled with information about college including an on-line college fair. It also has excellent links to resources for parents and students.
This
is the homepage of the American College Testing Program (ACT), the
main college admissions test in the Midwest.
This sight has information about testing dates, preparation
materials, and other general college information.
Similar to the ACT web site, College Board is the only online site where students can register for the SAT, another type of college admissions test and try out practice SAT questions. It also has a great deal of information about searching for colleges as well as a scholarship search engine.
