Southern Colorado Teacher Education Alliance (SCTEA) Web Site
The SCTEA is a group of 25 partners joined in an effort to improve teacher quality in southern Colorado. Federal funding for many SCTEA initiatives occurs through a Federal Title II Teacher Quality Partnership Grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
SCTEA Goals
SCTEA has targeted six goals that when attained will improve student achievement through the comprehensive transformation of teacher education into a quality collaborative effort of PK-12 schools, institutions of higher education, and other stakeholders in the southern region of Colorado. These goals include:
- Recruit and retain increased numbers of high quality and diverse teacher education candidates.
- Strengthen the knowledge base for pre-service teachers through a collaborative standards driven instructional model in the liberal arts and other areas.
- Improve performance of program graduates by strengthening professional education programs.
- Improve the quality of instruction and learning in college for pre-service teachers.
- Retain quality beginning teachers in partner schools in southern Colorado through strengthening of teacher induction.
- Continue to develop the SCTEA infrastructure to support project goals.
