Induction: Overview of Induction

The Induction Component

The induction component of the Southern Colorado Teacher Education Alliance focuses on support to first year teachers and the induction programs across our partner school districts in Southern Colorado.  This mission is addressed by the fifth goal of the SCTEA:

Retain quality beginning teachers in partner schools in southern Colorado through strengthening of teacher induction.

Achieving the Goal

To achieve this goal, SCTEA will

  • Develop a Resource Center of materials for beginning teachers in partner schools based on teacher needs, including training materials for teachers and mentors.
  • Implement staff development activities for beginning teachers in partner schools using the distance classrooms and online conferencing tools available through SCTEA.
  • Develop a Community of Learners model of support for beginning teachers  across partner schools through the use of a variety of web conferencing tools.

This web site is a main avenue of support for first year teachers as they become practicing professionals.  Information on resources, chat rooms, and discussion boards can be found here.
